Tongue piercing is a very intresting type of body piercing. You can pierce you tongue in diffrent ways, such as: center, horizontal, off-center, multiple tongue piercing and many more. Always remember to keep your tongue piercing away from infection, especialy first two week after getting pierced. The first thing is to rinse mouth with any type of listerine. For the first time the tongue will swell up to about twice and lymph will come out from the wound but don’t worry, this is normal and you just to wait 4-8 days. Your tongue should be fully healed within six-eight weeks. During thoise time try to don’t touch the tounge. If you eat something or touch always rinse tongue. No hot or spicy foods during this period, it must be soft, small amounts of food. Don’t forget to rinse your mouth out before and after every drink or meal. No alcohol, coffee and smoke (or rinse mouth before and after).

When your tongue is fully healed it’s necessary to rinse mouth out in the evening and morning. The piercer will usually pierce the tongue with a longer bar or piece of jewelry to allow the tongue to swell. If the jewelry (or bar) feels too big or long it can be replaced when the tongue has healed and swelling has gone down. Don’t take jewelry (or bar) out before healing is complete or swelling is gone. You can change the jewelry (or bar) by yourself or ask a piercer for it.

Jewelry must be always sterilize when you will be putting it in your tongue so as to prevent infection. In many cases, after the tongue is fully healed a crown or hard spot will appear around the hole in the tongue. This will generally go away within a month of the tongue being fully healed. If your tongue hurts more than eight days after piercing and swelling has not gone down go to the doctor. Following these easy and proper steps will result in a quick and aesthetic recovery of your tongue.
